Problem Note 38523: The SAS® 9.2 Log window displays an incorrect operating system when you run SAS® software in a Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit or x64 environment
When you start SAS 9.2 on a Windows 7 32-bit operating system or a Windows 7 x64 operating system, the SAS Log window displays an incorrect operating system.
For example, the SAS Log window displays the following note for 32-bit SAS on a Windows 7 32-bit or Windows 7 x64 operating system:
NOTE: This session is executing on the W32_VSPRO platform.
On a Windows 7 x64 system, the SAS Log window displays this note for x64 SAS:
NOTE: This session is executing on the X64_VSPRO platform.
Both notes indicate that SAS is running on a Microsoft Vista operating system, instead of Windows 7. However, this issue does not affect invocation or performance of SAS. The notes are for informational purposes only.
This issue is fixed in SAS 9.3. Starting in SAS 9.3 (TS1M0), the 32-bit version of SAS displays the following message on both Windows 7 32-bit operating systems and Windows 7 X64 operating systems:
NOTE: This session is executing on the W32_7PRO platform.
On a Windows 7 x64 system, the SAS Log window displays this note for an x64 SAS version:
NOTE: This session is executing on the X64_7PRO platform.
Note: To determine your operating system, click Start ► Run. Type WINVER. The About Windows window appears and displays the operating system for your computer. You can also determine your operating system by opening the Control Panel and then selecting System and Security ► System.
